Jags place center Brandon Linder on IR, CB Tre Herndon on Reserve/ COVID-19

The Jacksonville Jaguars starting roster took another blow on offense and defense Wednesday as the team announced that center Brandon Linder was going on injured reserve, while cornerback Tre Herndon was placed on the Reserve/ COVID-19 list.

Linder had been dealing with an ankle injury since Week 13’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. As a result, he wasn’t able to practice Week 14 for the Jags’ game against the Cleveland Browns and was listed as an inactive. Earlier this week, coach Doug Marrone said that the team would try hard to get Linder back, but it seems his injury needed more time to heal. That said, IR obviously was the best move and he’ll now miss the rest of the season.

Herndon’s situation is a big blow as well, as the Jags have dealt with several injuries within their secondary and are already without first-round cornerback C.J. Henderson. Without Herndon the Jags are going to lose an experienced player in the secondary that has started in six games this season and 23 in all.
