The last time we checked, Ceasers Sportsbook had the Jacksonville Jaguars slotted with odds of +7,500 (75/1) to win Super Bowl LV, however, with Super Bowl LIV in the books, others think they have a slightly better chance. Betonline currently has the Jags down with odds of +5,000 (50/1), which is actually better than the odds of seven teams.
While those still aren’t very good odds, they surprisingly came in with better odds than the Carolina Panthers, who just brought in first year head coach Matt Rhule to replace Ron Rivera. Both the New York Giants and Jets, Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins, and Washington Redskins also had worse odds than the Jags, however, those aren’t surprises by any means.
It’s worth noting that there is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding the 2020 season, so odds will be all over the place for the Jags and others. For example, the New England Patriots’ odds could increase if they can re-sign Tom Brady. The same applies for the situation with Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints.
In the Jags’ case, they could see another slight increase in their odds if they can address the plethora of needs they have on offense and defense. That most importantly could be the case if they add weapons around quarterbacks Gardner Minshew or Nick Foles. Both are set to have an open competition to start the offseason, but regardless as to who wins it, their supporting cast needs to be upgraded. Upgrades at the linebacker and defensive tackle positions could help, too.
One thing that could motivate the Jags is the fact that the next Super Bowl takes place in their own state as the game will be played in Tampa, Florida on Feb. 7, 2021. It will mark the second consecutive Super Bowl in Florida as Sunday’s game took place in Miami.
