Jags name Nick Foles as their starting QB for Week 11 vs. Colts

Despite the impressive run that rookie Gardner Minshew II had, the Jacksonville Jaguars have opted to go back to veteran quarterback Nick Foles.

Head coach Doug Marrone made the announcement official during Tuesday’s media session, which means the Jags will be taking Foles off injured reserve for their Week 11 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Foles, 30, was signed by the Jags this offseason as the highest-paid free agent in team history. Unfortunately, the team was only able to see him play two series this regular season before he broke his collarbone against the Kansas City Chiefs when his former teammate Chris Jones made a tackle on him during a touchdown pass to D.J. Chark.

With Foles being a Super Bowl MVP and a player who has led the Philadelphia Eagles on a late-season run, it isn’t shocking that the team went back to him. However, that’s not to say Minshew won’t be given a chance to start in the future (perhaps 2020).

Foles will enter Week 11 with a career completion percentage of 61.6 (979-of-1,589), 11,240 passing yards, 69 touchdowns, and 33 picks. With the team having a 4-5 record, he’ll be tasked with getting them approximately six more wins which could lead to a postseason berth.
