The Jacksonville Jaguars will be transitioning to remote activities Saturday after one player from their practice squad tested positive for COVID-19. The team also announced that they are contact tracing to identify players who’ve been in contact with the player who tested positive.
The team stated that they still plan to have their upcoming game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, though more positive tests could hinder those plans.

Saturday’s case is the first one the Jags have reported this regular season and it marks the first time they’ve had to shut down their facility. There have been several other notable teams who’ve had to go through a similar protocols, such as the Atlanta Falcons. The team had an assistant coach test positive for coronavirus Thursday and moved to virtual operations as a result. Other teams like the Tennessee Titans have had outbreaks that have caused postponed games and schedule shuffling.
As for the Jags, the staff and team received rapid-result testing this morning and will know the results soon. Pending the results, they will provide the public with another update before Week 6’s series of games occur.
