The Jacksonville Jaguars are now on a two-game win streak after defeating the New York Jets Week 8. They’ve also somehow found themselves with a .500 record despite being without quarterback Nick Foles for nearly all of their eight games and losing their best player, Jalen Ramsey, via trade.
With it being a few days removed from gameday, our comrade Nate Davis of USA TODAY has completed his Week 8 power rankings. In this week’s edition, the Jags were once again movers, climbing from the No. 20 spot to the No. 17.
17. Jaguars (20): Despite Leonard Fournette’s resurgence, Jacksonville is only team in league that doesn’t have multiple rushing touchdowns this season.
Well, that’s an odd statistic for a hot team to have.
Despite having just one touchdown on the season, Leonard Fournette did his part Sunday by setting the tone out of the gate with a 66-yard run, which occurred on the second play of the drive. Fournette also had seven receptions for 60 yards, giving him 136 total yards on the day.
The Jags’ defense did their part, too. They had Sam Darnold constantly running to escape pressure. In total, they finished with eight sacks and three interceptions on the day putting them at +1 in the turnover margin.
As for the rest of the AFC South, the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans came in at the No. 7 and No. 8 spots, respectively, after acquiring their fifth wins. The Tennessee Titans, who were previously No. 23, also moved up to the No. 19 spot after defeating the Tampa Bay Bucs.
