Jags land at No. 27 spot in USA TODAY power rankings

While the Jacksonville Jaguars have had worse outings this year, they still didn’t look all that impressive Sunday against an Atlanta Falcons team who came into the week with the same record. They also kept up the trend of losing games by double-digit points (24-12), and as a result, they took a slide in USA TODAY’s latest power rankings by Nate Davis.

After previously being ranked at the No. 24 spot last week, they fell three spots in this week’s edition of USA TODAY’s power rankings, which really isn’t as bad as some expected.

27. Jacksonville Jaguars

Welp. Maybe they’ve at least got a fighting chance to recruit some decent players now that autocratic EVP Tom Coughlin has been deposed.

Even without the distraction of Tom Coughlin’s firing lingering within the facility, the Jags weren’t expected to win by many. Thanks to a win over the Oakland Raiders, they had just put an end to a five-game losing streak where they lost all of their games by 17 points or more, so it was a given that Matt Ryan and company would provide issues for the Jags’ defense with a top-5 passing attack.

With one game left, the Jags have a chance to climb back up near their previous spot if they can handle business against the Indianapolis Colts, who are ranked at the No. 18 spot presently. It would also be nice for the Jags to end the season on a positive note as far as the rankings go because it’s been a rocky season for them and it’s shown in their fluctuation on the list.
