It’s a new NFL week and with that has come a new set of power rankings from USA TODAY. Of course, the Jacksonville Jaguars are coming off their first win of the season after defeating the Tennessee Titans Thursday and it resulted in a jump for the team who came into Week 3 at the No. 23 spot.
Here is what football analyst Nate Davis had to say about the Cardiac Cats who somehow ignored the distractions surrounding them to avoid going 0-3:
19. Jacksonville Jaguars
It’s reached the point that they should either pay CB Jalen Ramsey or deal him. But maintaining status quo looks increasingly unsustainable.
The Jags primetime victory came after the team was dealing with the aftermath of cornerback Jalen Ramsey demanding a trade. After having a “disrespectful” verbal exchange with Jags front office executive Tom Coughlin after Week 2’s loss to the Houston Texans, the report then surfaced and put the Jags in a tough situation heading into their second divisional game. Still, they managed to persevere convincingly, defeating the Titans by a score of 20-10 thanks to their elite pass-rush and emergence of rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew II.
Of all the AFC South teams, the Jags finished with the third-highest ranking in USA TODAY’s power rankings. The Titans dropped to the No. 20 spot, while the Indianapolis Colts, who beat the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, moved up to the No. 15 spot. The Houston Texans came in with the highest ranking, which was the No. 9 spot as a result of defeating the Los Angeles Chargers.
