Jags give Myles Jack a four-year extension worth $57 million

After failing to get a deal done with defensive end Yannick Ngakoue, the Jacksonville Jaguars seemingly turned their attention to another young star on their defense in linebacker Myles Jack. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jags extended the fourth-year linebacker to a four-year deal worth $57 million, which includes $33 million in guarantees. The deal is one that makes him the sixth highest-paid interior linebacker as far as guarantees go.

Jack, 23, was drafted in the second-round (No. 36 overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft. He’s been a key part of their defense since accumulating a career total of 221 tackles, five sacks, six pass breakups and a pick.

Now, with the “quarterback” of their defense settled in for the long-term, they can now revert their focus to Ngakoue, who was drafted in 2016, too, as they had over $18.6 million in cap space available before the deal. Afterward, that would then set them up to focus on Jalen Ramsey in the future, who will unquestionably want to be the league’s top-paid cornerback.
