Jags fill vacant roster spot by signing CB Parry Nickerson

With the Jacksonville Jaguars trading Jalen Ramsey to the Los Angeles Rams Tuesday, they had one vacant roster spot available. They fill it Thursday with another cornerback in former New York Jet and Seattle Seahawk, Parry Nickerson.

Nickerson, 25, was drafted in the sixth-round (No. 179 overall) of last year’s draft by the Jets. During his rookie campaign, he participated in all 16 games and started in two, accumulating 18 total tackles and a pass breakup. Afterward, he was traded to the Seahawks for conditional 2021 seventh-round pick. He was waived and placed on their practice squad in September, then released a couple days ago on Oct. 15.

Nickerson played collegiate football for Tulane where he accumulated 16 total interceptions and 31 total pass breakups, good for second and third in the program’s history, respectively. During his last season there, he was able to accumulate 55 tackles and six interceptions, which resulted in him getting recognition as a Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist.

According to the team’s official site, he’ll wear the No. 35.
