Jags fill out practice squad with CB Parry Nickerson and 2 others

The Jacksonville Jaguars had three practice squad spots available as a result of linebacker Joe Giles-Harris being promoted to the main roster, defensive tackle Eli Ankou being signed by the Cleveland Browns and quarterback Chase Litton being released. However, they filled all three spots over the last few days by bringing back Parry Nickerson, signing linebacker Sutton Smith and defensive tackle Brian Price.

The Jags initially signed Nickerson last week to fill the spot in which was available due to cornerback Jalen Ramsey being traded. Due to not quite being acclimated, Nickerson was one of the team’s inactives against the Cincinnati Bengals. Prior to that, he spent time with the New York Jets, who drafted him in the sixth-round last year and the Seattle Seahawks afterward (via trade). However, when the Jags had a rash of injuries at linebacker against the Bengals they cut Nickerson but decided to stash him on their practice squad as a developmental corner.

Smith was drafted in the sixth-round (No. 175 overall) of this year’s draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers out of Northern Illinois University. He was one of the players waived while the team was trying to shape their final roster for the regular season. He participated in two of the Steelers preseason games (one of which was a start) and was able to accumulate one total tackle, two assisted tackles and a half of a sack.

Lastly, Price is a player who has made various stops, however, his most recent one was with the Indianapolis Colts this year on their practice squad. He’s participated in 22 games, has a start to his name and will enter his tenure  in Jacksonville with 20 tackles to his name.
