The hits just keep coming for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ defensive line as they will be losing another player to retirement. This time, it’s veteran Aaron Lynch who will be voluntarily stepping away from the game after signing with the Jags this offseason.
Jaguars’ DE Aaron Lynch, who has compiled 20 sacks in the NFL since the 49ers drafted him in the fifth round in 2014, now is planning to retire, per sources.

Lynch, 27, signed with the Jags in early May to give them depth at the defensive end position after previously playing for the Chicago Bears. His connection with the team came through front office member Trent Baalke, who drafted him into the league (pick No. 150 overall) with the San Francisco 49ers in 2014.
Lynch, who would’ve been entering his seventh season, will exit the NFL with 105 total tackles and 20 sacks. As mentioned by Adam Schefter above, he’ll be placed on the Jags’ Reserve/Retired list tomorrow, leaving another roster spot available.
Lynch’s retirement is one that could hurt the team in terms of making their defensive line depth thinner than it was. Just this week they lost Rodney Gunter, who retired due to a heart disorder. Before that, they lost defensive end Lerentee McCray and nose tackle Al Woods, who elected to sit the season out due to concerns for the coronavirus. They also lost Brian Price and Dontavius Russell earlier this month.
Another noteworthy nugget worth mentioning is that K’Lavon Chaisson is also currently practicing on the side with a hamstring injury. Thankfully, coach Doug Marrone said he’s progressing well and could be back soon.
Doug Marrone also notes Myles Jack (illness) won’t be at practice — don’t believe it’s COVID related.
