Jags claim TE Donnie Ernsberger off waivers, waived/injured rookie TE Michael Colubiale

The Jacksonville Jaguars made a transaction for the second day in a row by picking up Donnie Ernsberger off the waiver wire. To make room for his addition, they waived/injured rookie tight end Michael Colubiale who was in the concussion protocol. Of course, that means Colubiale can revert to the team’s reserve/injured list if he clears waivers.

Ernsberger, 22, spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after going undrafted last season out of Western Michigan. Afterward, he was waived by them with an injury settlement in late August, but returned as a practice squad member during Weeks 13-15. He seemingly impresses enough to be promoted to the main roster in late December, which allowed him to participate in the Bucs’ last two regular season games.

The 6-foot-2, 237-pound tight end was named second-team All-MAC during his senior season and finished his career with the Broncos. He also recorded 34 catches for 394 yards and four touchdowns in the process, which was good enough to land him an invite to the NFLPA Bowl in 2018.
