Jags announce jersey numbers for top 3 draft picks

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced Monday that 2019 draft selections Josh Allen (No. 41) and Josh Oliver (No. 89) will wear their same numbers from college. However, their second-round pick, Jawaan Taylor, will be making a change to the No. 75.

As most are aware, the No. 41 was occupied by cornerback Tre Herndon prior to Monday, but it appears Allen worked out a deal with the veteran.

As for Oliver’s number, it comes as a bit of a shock that the Jags would let him keep the No. 89 as it was previously worn by one of the team’s most respected veterans, Marcedes Lewis. However, if he can fill the veteran’s shoes over time, it won’t really be a big deal.

Starting center and offensive line leader Brandon Linder occupies the No. 65, which is what Taylor wore in college at Florida. That said, Taylor decided to switch it up and will look to establish himself in the league with a new number.
