While things are competitive on the field when it comes to the AFC South, the teams still consider themselves family when it comes to their league connection. We’ve seen this several times when natural disasters have devastated the United States in the past, whether it was Bill O’Brien offering the Jags somewhere to practice during Hurricane Irma, or Leonard Fournette donating to J.J. Watt’s YouCaring.com fundraiser for Hurricane Harvey victims.
With the Nashville area recently being devastated by two powerful tornadoes, the division once again stood together to help a city within the conference, joining forces to donate $100K to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. The Tennessee Titans also made a $1 million donation while the NFL donated, $250K, combining for a total amount of $1.35 million.
Since the unfortunate situation that unfolded in the Nashville area, the Titans have also joined forces with the Predators to help the community. The Predators also served pizza to the city at Bridgestone Arena (their home venue) recently and collaborated with others in the NHL to make monetary donations.
Per CNN, the two tornadoes that hit the area were classified as an EF-4 and EF-3. Unfortunately, 24 people lost their lives in the process and it’s estimated that the tornadoes caused $1.5 billion to $2 billion in damage to the area.
