Jags add help at WR and safety in 2020 mock

With minicamp and organized team activities behind us, it appears we’ll have a little downtime at Jags Wire. That makes for the perfect time to check out the latest projections by our comrades at Draft Wire who are always looking ahead.

In their latest two-round mock for 2020, they had the Jags addressing two positions in which fans are concerned about heading into training camp and those are the wide receiver and safety positions. Here is how the Jacksonville Jaguars’ selections panned out as they were slotted the No. 14 pick in the draft order:

14. Jacksonville Jaguars – CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma

46. Jacksonville Jaguars – Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama

Lamb is a player who would give the Jags a versatile pass catcher. He can do a little of everything from giving the Jaguars a receiver who could work defenses underneath as a slot guy, or he can line up wide and burn defenses deep. His catch radius is also a standout trait of his at 6-foot-2, but he’ll need to add some weight to his frame as he’s currently listed at 189 pounds.

McKinney is a player who proved to be an active tackler in 2018 accumulating 73 on the season, and the staff at Alabama views him as one of their leaders on the defensive side. At 6-foot-1, 196 pounds, he appears to have good size and would be the perfect dance partner to put in the backfield with Ronnie Harrison, who is a former teammate of his.
