Jags add depth at RB by signing Alfred Blue

The Jacksonville Jaguars allowed their No. 2 tailback to hit the open market last month in T.J. Yeldon, leaving a void behind Leonard Fournette. However, it appears they may have found a replacement for the veteran Monday after signing former Houston Texans tailback Alfred Blue.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport was the reporter who first broke the news that the veteran would be visiting Monday, and it appears the Jags’ offer was exactly what he was looking for though the contract details haven’t been revealed.

At 27 years of age, Blue will come into Jacksonville with a career total of 1,646 rushing yards and five touchdowns over the course of playing in 46 games and starting in 15. His career best came in 2015 when he was able to accumulate 698 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Blue initially entered the league as the No. 181 overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft for Houston after spending his collegiate career at Louisiana State University just like Fournette and Jags running backs coach Terry Robiskie. His addition is one that gives the Jags flexibility heading into the draft being that it was looking like they may have to draft a tailback in the top-4 rounds.
