Jags acquire QB Joshua Dobbs via trade from Steelers

With quarterback Nick Foles going on injured reserve after having collarbone surgery today, the Jacksonville Jaguars were in the market for a backup quarterback. Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the team has traded a 2020 fifth-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for Joshua Dobbs.

Dobbs, 24, was a fourth-round selection (No. 135 overall) of the Steelers in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Tennessee. He was the team’s No. 2 quarterback behind Ben Roethlisberger in 2018, but with the emergence of Mason Rudolph, Dobbs became expendable.

Dobbs played in five regular-season games with the Steelers, going 6 of 12 for 43 yards and an interception.
