Jags acquire No. 9, No. 20 overall selections of 2020 NFL Draft after victory vs. Colts

The Jacksonville Jaguars once again find themselves selecting in the top-10, as the team now owns the ninth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Going into Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts, the Jags were projected to select sixth, however, following a 38-20 victory, they slid three spots back in the draft order.

The team also owns the Los Angeles Rams’ first-round selection for 2020 after trading them cornerback Jalen Ramsey. The Rams, who some predicted would make the playoffs, ultimately fell short of expectations and finished with a 9-7 record, good for the No. 20 overall pick.

With uncertainty shrouding the future of the franchise, Jacksonville could select any number of prospects to help fill some voids on the roster. With the win over the Colts, the Jags are likely out of the rage for stud cornerback Jeffrey Okudah of Ohio State, however, players like Auburn’s Derrick Brown and Georgia’s Andrew Thomas still make a ton of sense at No. 9. Brown, especially, is a player for fans to keep their eyes on for Jacksonville as the fit just makes too much sense.

With the extra draft capital, the team has the flexibility to move up if they fall in love with a particular player. Luckily for the black and teal, the class is fairly talented at the top and the front office should be able to nab two cornerstone pieces for the coming rebuild on the first day.

With a potential new coaching staff and front office, it will be interesting to see what the team does with their mountain of draft capital in April’s draft.

To peep the NFL’s full draft order, Draft Wire has a listing up that was projected by Tankathon.
