Jaecoo is building on a strong start in the UK with an expanded lineup for its Jaecoo 7 SUV, headlined by a new Black Luxury edition that leans into a well-established trend among premium brands – blacked-out styling for added visual impact.
The Jaecoo 7 SHS-P Black Luxury arrives as a range-topping plug-in hybrid – priced from £36,500 – and brings with it a host of darkened exterior and interior details. There’s a black grille, black badging, black mirrors, black roof, black wheels and black roof rails, plus a matching treatment inside with a black headliner and sun visors. Even the ‘Luxury’ badge on the C-pillar gets the blackout treatment.

It’s a familiar formula. Black edition models have long been used by manufacturers to add visual drama without major mechanical changes. Audi has its Black Edition trims across much of the range, while BMW’s Shadowline packages and Mercedes’ Night Editions follow a similar theme. Range Rover, too, has a strong presence in this space, with models like the Range Rover SV Black and various black styling packs proving particularly popular with buyers looking for a more assertive look.
That context is important here, because the Jaecoo 7 has already drawn comparisons with Range Rover products thanks to its upright stance, clean surfacing and squared-off proportions. The addition of a Black Luxury version only reinforces that visual link, albeit at a significantly lower price point than the cars it echoes.

Under the skin, the Black Luxury model sticks with Jaecoo’s existing plug-in hybrid setup, part of the firm’s Super Hybrid System (SHS) developed by parent company Chery. This version, now badged SHS-P, continues unchanged mechanically and still offers a claimed combined range of 700 miles, meaning the focus here is very much on design rather than performance upgrades.
Alongside the Black Luxury edition, Jaecoo is also introducing a new full-hybrid variant for the first time. The Jaecoo 7 SHS-H uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a self-charging hybrid system, producing 224bhp and with claimed fuel economy of up to 53mpg.
Two trims will be offered for the SHS-H – Pure and Deluxe – with prices starting from £29,195. Even the entry-level version gets a 13.2-inch infotainment screen, wireless smartphone connectivity, dual-zone climate control and a refrigerated centre console. Meanwhile, the Deluxe adds eco-leather upholstery, a larger 14.8-inch screen and an upgraded sound system.
These new additions come as Jaecoo continues to build momentum in the UK. The brand has recorded more than 35,000 registrations since launch, with the Jaecoo 7 proving particularly popular and even breaking into the list of top five best-selling cars in February 2026.

Victor Zhang, managing director of Jaecoo UK, said: “After such a strong first year, it’s crucial that we keep evolving. The Jaecoo 7 SHS-P Black Luxury gives our customers even more visual impact and exclusivity, while the full-hybrid SHS-H opens electrified performance at an extremely competitive price point. Together, these new additions reaffirm our commitment to giving UK drivers more choice, more value, and more of what they want from a modern SUV.”
Both the Black Luxury plug-in hybrid and the new full-hybrid model will be available to order from May 2026, with all versions covered by a seven-year, 100,000-mile warranty.
