Jadon Sancho update as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gives Manchester United squad news ahead of Everton friendly

Everton face Manchester United in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday before the Premier League campaign kicks off in a little over a week.

The Blues have had an unbeaten pre-season so far but the United clash will be a difficult test as they gear up to face Southampton on Saturday, August 14.

Supporters will watch on at Old Trafford when the league rivals meet this weekend, but they won't get to see United's new signing in action as he's yet to join up with the squad.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an update on several players, including Sancho and striker Edinson Cavani.

He told the ManUtd.com : "Hopefully they’ll be fit when they come back in with us.

“They’re due to come in after the weekend. There are different circumstances as to why they haven’t joined us yet, but it’s a long season and they had to have a little more time off.”

Sancho was part of Gareth Southgate's England squad that reached the Euro 2020 final last month, but the Three Lions were defeated on penalties by Italy.

Soon after the tournament concluded, Sancho's £73m from Dortmund was swiftly wrapped up but he's set to join up with his teammates next week.

Cavani, on the other hand, was away with Uruguay this summer for the Copa America and he too is due to return to Manchester next week.

Raphael Varane is yet to complete his medical with United and hasn't trained with the team following his £41million move from Real Madrid.

For Everton, Jordan Pickford, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Yerry Mina all returned to training this week after their respective summer tournaments and break.

The trio could be in contention to feature in Saturday's clash at Old Trafford.

Richarlison is yet to return from international duty as he's part of the Brazil squad that has reached the men's football final at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
