Manchester United confirm £73million deal to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund

Manchester United have confirmed they have reached an agreement in principle to sign Jadon Sancho.

Borussia Dortmund announced a £73million deal had been agreed in a statement to the stock exchange on Thursday morning and United have confirmed the transfer that will see Sancho become the second-most expensive English player of all time behind Harry Maguire.

The 21-year-old England winger is set to finalise personal terms and undergo a medial after his involvement at Euro 2020.

Sancho is expected to sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford with the option of a sixth.

United said in a statement: “Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of Jadon Sancho.

“The signing is subject to contractual terms and a medical, which will be completed after Jadon’s involvement in the Uefa European Championship.”

Manchester City are due 15 per cent of the profit Dortmund will make on Sancho, who joined the Bundesliga club from the Blues for £10m four years ago. That equates to about £9.5m.

The deal brings to an end a long transfer saga for the Londoner. United pushed to sign him last summer but could not agree a fee with Dortmund.
