Jadon Sancho still expects to complete his transfer to Manchester United this summer, according to reports.
The Borussia Dortmund winger is United's top target in the window and the club are hopeful of finally getting their man after previously failing to do so in 2017 and 2019.
However, Dortmund recently threw a spanner in the works by revealing that Sancho's contract has been extended by a year until 2023 and club officials remain adamant that he will be remaining with the club for at least another year.
United haven't given up on signing the 20-year-old and MEN Sport understands United remain in negotiations with his and Dortmund's representatives but wages and agent costs, as well as the actual transfer fee, remain obstacles.
The saga looks set to rumble on throughout the summer but, according to the Transfer Window Podcast, all three parties involved expect the transfer to happen.
It's reported that United are comfortable in their position as the only club who could realistically sign Sancho this summer and believe that Dortmund will eventually lose their resolve towards the end of the window.
The report claims that the transfer isn't in doubt, with Sancho, his representatives, United and Dortmund all expecting the deal to happen by October 5.
Meanwhile, Reports in Italy suggest Roma are speeding up their move for United defender Chris Smalling.
The Italian club was recently bought out meaning extra transfer funds could be available to meet United's demands for the centre-back, who impressed at the club on loan last season.
Corriere dello Sport claim Roma are now pushing ahead with a deal for the former England international as they want their squad completed before pre-season starts.
