Jadon Sancho shows 'Justice for George Floyd' t-shirt after goal for Borussia Dortmund

England forward Jadon Sancho has dedicated a goal he scored in a Bundesliga game for Dortmund against Paderborn to George Floyd, the black Minneapolis resident who lost his life on Monday.

There have been protests all around the world following Floyd's death after a white policeman, Derek Chauvin, pinned his neck to the ground with his knee.

In an earlier Bundesliga game Monchengladbach player Marcus Thuram celebrated his first goal against Union Berlin by taking a knee in tribute to Floyd.

And following Sancho's goal the 20-year-old took off his shirt to reveal one underneath which read 'Justice for George Floyd'.

He was booked for the celebration, which made the score 2-0 to his side.

Protests are continuing across the USA in response to Floyd's death, while other sports stars have spoken out against racism.

Floyd pleaded that he could not breathe while he was being restrained, but Chauvin continued and Floyd died some time after the incident.

Chauvin has since been charged with third-degree murder.

Teen tennis sensation Coco Gauff took to TikTok with a video including the caption: “This is why I am using my voice to fight against racism."

The 16-year-old then challenged her following with the words: “I am using my voice. Will you use yours?”

Elsewhere, Former NBA player Stephen Jackson was a friend of Floyd's and pledged not to let the police "demean" his memory.

“I’m here because they’re not gonna demean the character of George Floyd, my twin,” Jackson said at a Minneapolis rally.

“A lot of times, when police do things they know that’s wrong, the first thing they try to do is cover it up, and bring up your background to make it seem like the bull**** that they did was worthy.

“When was murder ever worthy? But if it’s a black man, it’s approved.”

Protests have been taking place in at least 30 major cities in the USA, while they have also been present in UK cities such as London and Manchester.
