Former Premier League striker Emile Heskey has said that signing Jadon Sancho in the summer would prove to be a good move for the future for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp - but has warned that the youngster that he may not get game time ahead of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane next season.
Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool are among the teams said to be interested in the Borussia Dortmund winger, who is said to have an asking price of around £109 million.
Speaking to GentingBet, former Reds striker Heskey has said that signing Sancho will add longevity to Klopp’s Premier League leaders.
“When you look at Jadon Sancho’s age, he will always be an asset to Liverpool. In two to three years, you’ve got an ageing Liverpool side – even though in this day and age and with the fitness levels of all the players, age is nothing,” he said.
“But having someone young, fresh and dynamic coming in, it will only add to the squad and I think that is where Jurgen is going to be looking at next.
“What can he add to the squad that is going to give Liverpool that little bit more longevity.”
However, the former England striker did have a worry about the amount of game time that the 20-year-old would get at Anfield should he complete a move.
“When you look at the Liverpool frontline, you’ve got Mane and Salah as the goal-getters and that is exactly what they do well,” he added
“They command a respect from defenders as a result. You’d like to think that Sancho has the quality to get in the side but it will be very tough to get in ahead of Salah or Mane.”
