Jadon Sancho sends heartfelt farewell message to Borussia Dortmund fans after Man Utd transfer

Jadon Sancho has expressed his gratitude to Borussia Dortmund as he left the German club on Friday.

The 21-year-old winger joins Manchester United after a stellar four years in the Bundesliga.

He played a total of 137 games for Dortmund, scoring 50 goals and registering 64 assists in the process.

And Sancho was quick to take to Instagram to say an emotional farewell to his former employers who took a punt on him as a 17-year-old playing in Manchester City's youth academy.

"This is a hard message to swallow," Sancho told his Instagram followers.

"First of all I just want to start off by thanking Borussia Dortmund for everything they have done for me, taking the risk on a young 17 year old at the time with no first team experience and believing in me.

"The love I will always have for this iconic club will never be matched. From the very first moment I walked into the stadium I felt at home and knew I had made the right decision. I was welcomed with open arms by everyone associated with the club.

"Moving to Germany was not only football, I had to adapt to a new lifestyle and culture."

The England international played for Manchester City prior to his time at Borussia Dortmund.

His arrival has been labelled as a homecoming by United on their official channels - much to the irritation of fans of his former club Manchester City.

Fans will have to wait a little bit longer to see the 21 year old in action with Sancho still away on holiday after competing at Euro 2020.

He will join up with his new teammates once his break is over and will be looking to get going straight-away in United colours.
