Jadon Sancho's transfer value could force Chelsea to complete Kai Havertz deal

The 2019/20 Premier League campaign may not have yet reached its conclusion but speculation about the upcoming transfer window is most certainly gathering pace.

The window, in normal circumstances, would have been opening for business in England today (June 9) and clubs would have been free to put plans in place for the 2020/21 campaign getting under way in August.

However, this term, of course, has been heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, which has seen football in England suspended since mid-March.

Nevertheless, it has been all systems go on the transfer front as far as Chelsea are concerned.

Alan Smith breaks down Chelsea's move for Timo Werner and who they may look to next

The Blues, who will resume their Premier League campaign in a little under a fortnight's time against Aston Villa at Villa Park, have identified their top targets for the forthcoming transfer window and are eager to get their signatures secured as soon as possible.

Football.london understands that Chelsea are "highly confident" that they will be able to trigger the £53million release clause in Timo Werner's RB Leipzig contract before it expires on June 15, which is less than a week away.

As well as working hard on a deal to secure Werner's signature, which would be a massive statement of intent by the Premier League top-four hopefuls, Chelsea have also identified Leicester City's Ben Chilwell, Borussia Dortmund and England star Jadon Sancho and Bayer Leverkusen attacking-midfielder Kai Havertz as concrete transfer targets.

Whilst Chelsea stand a genuine chance of securing a deal to sign left-back Chilwell in the upcoming transfer window, the likelihood of them being able to pull off a double swoop for Sancho and Havertz is highly unlikely.

Both players, who have delivered the goods on a consistent basis in the Bundesliga this season, are considered as two of the most highly-promising players in world football, with their stock rising at a rapid rate of knots.

Whilst the possibility of Chelsea landing both of them is unlikely, the chances of them of swooping for either Havertz or Sancho could be within range.

Dortmund are said to be willing to part with Sancho if they receive an offer in the region of £120million, whilst Leverkusen have valued Havertz, who has scored five goals in four matches since the Bundesliga's return last month, at around £90million, meaning a double swoop would set the Blues back over £200million.

Now, data released by the CIES Football Observatory has revealed the true values of both players.

The CIES Football Observatory algorithm takes a whole host of different factors and elements into account when it comes to estimating a player's transfer such, with age and the economic level of the selling club taken into account.

The data shows that Sancho, who would have had ambitions to start for England at this summer's European Championships had they not been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, is valued at £171.9million, which is over £50million, of course, than the price Dortmund have frequently quoted ever since interest in the winger soared.

Havertz, on the other hand, is valued at £94.7million.

That amounts to a difference in value of £77.2million, which shows that Chelsea, in a financial aspect, would be far better off making a move for Havertz, though both he and Sancho are very different types of player.

Both Havertz and Sancho, of course, are fantastic players in their own rights and would offer a different element to Chelsea's attack.

But Frank Lampard's transfer kitty, following the signings of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, should that deal go according to plan, is likely to be already pretty stretched, meaning the Blues may have to move for Leverkusen star Havertz opposed to Sancho.
