Jadon Sancho's Manchester United move crumbles as Borussia Dortmund take 'definitive' transfer stance

Borussia Dortmund look to have pulled the plug on one of the biggest transfers of the summer as they insist Jadon Sancho will remain at the club despite Manchester United's interest.

The English winger has been touted for a move to Old Trafford all year but Dortmund have played hardball over a €120million asking price.

Westfalenstadion chiefs gave the Premier League club a deadline of August 10 to meet that valuation and it has now passed without an acceptable offer.

Now BVB sporting director Michael Zorc is adamant Sancho, 20, will stay at the Bundesliga runners-up.

Not only is Zorc insistent that Sancho won't move this summer - but he has revealed a staggering development that explains why his club were so keen to hold out for their mammoth asking price.

He said: "We plan on having Jadon Sancho in our team this season, the decision is final. I think that answers all our questions.

"Last summer we adjusted Jadon's salary to match the development of his performances. So in context, we had already extended his contract until 2023 back then."

It was initially thought that Sancho's deal expired in 2022, but an extra year on the contract puts Dortmund in a strong position.

Sancho was pictured on Monday morning leaving with his Dortmund team-mates to head for a pre-season training camp in Switzerland.

That was seen as another blow for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 's planned marquee signing and Zorc's comments look to have torpedoed the transfer.
