Jadon Sancho reveals what Manchester United worked on during training after Brentford defeat

Manchester United's Jadon Sancho has revealed Erik ten Hag worked on 'transitions' after the defeat against Brentford.

United beat Liverpool 2-1 on Monday night thanks to goals from Sancho and Marcus Rashford. It was the perfect response from Ten Hag's side after suffering two humiliating defeats against Brighton and Brentford. United started the game with intent and Liverpool failed to cope with their energy in all areas across the pitch, which eventually led to Sancho opening the scoring.

Sancho's brilliantly composed finish shocked Liverpool after just 15 minutes and Rashford extended the Reds' advantage after half-time. It was an outstanding strike from Rashford, who did well to score following a well-worked counter-attack.

Mohamed Salah scored in the latter stages but the goal was nothing but a consolation. United's 2-1 win over rivals Liverpool was a monumental result for Ten Hag and Sancho spoke to MUTV after the match to reflect on the excellent performance.

“Coming from last week’s performance, we knew today we had to show desire and belief," Sancho told MUTV.

"I’m so glad that we got the three points today. Yeah, [good transitions] for sure, we’ve been working on that a lot this past week in training. It showed today, but now it’s about keeping this momentum and doing this every week.

“From pre-season, we knew it was going to be intense [Ten Hag's style]. As players, we’re happy to play this style. We’re very young, we’re energetic, so we can produce these types of performances. Coming from the loss last week, it hit us hard.

We had to turn it around and we have to keep to this momentum now, as I’ve said. To be fair, I’ve been in those situations [before the goal] many times. Once I chopped inside, I knew I needed to keep cool. I saw the gap and I trusted myself to finish it.

"You have to compose yourself and be calm."
