Jadon Sancho has returned to training with Borussia Dortmund with German football edging closer to a return following the coronavirus shutdown.

The England international was pictured on the training pitch doing light ball work while maintaining a safe distance from his Dortmund teammates on Monday.

The German top-flight is expected to be the first major European league to return this month with Bundesliga chiefs proposing a restart date of May 16.

Dortmund confirmed on Monday all members of their playing squad and staff had tested negative for Covid-19 with ‘further tests to follow’.

Manchester United hope to bring Sancho back to English football ahead of the 2020-21 season although Ed Woodward admitted last week that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s transfer budget was set to be hit by the fall out.

Sancho remains United’s top target – but if Dortmund stick to their asking price of £100million-plus, they may be forced to look elsewhere.

There an acceptance within the club that they are unlikely to break their £89m transfer record – paid for Paul Pogba in 2016 – with deals in excess of £60m potentially out of reach.
