Jadon Sancho 'prefers Liverpool FC to Manchester United' transfer claim and more rumours

Manchester United transfer target Jadon Sancho would prefer a move to Liverpool in the upcoming transfer window - according to reports in Germany.

Sancho is a priority target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the back of an exceptional campaign in the Bundesliga. United attempted to sign the youngster following his departure from Manchester City but the Blues were unwilling to negotiate with their fierce rivals.

The Reds secured Champions League qualification on the final day of the season by defeating Leicester which boosts their chances of luring the 20-year-old to Old Trafford now the transfer window is officially open.

MEN Sport understand Sancho has a preference to return to Manchester and various reports state United are front runners for his signature. However, Kicker report that a "rumour persists" that he is having second thoughts over a move to the Reds and would prefer to join Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

The report claims Sancho believes Liverpool have a far greater chance of winning silverware next season.

United's rivals secured their first league in 30 years earlier this month but Klopp has already ruled out a move for the England international.

Elsewhere, reports claim United are willing to sell Jesse Lingard this summer.

The 27-year-old has struggled to break into the first-team under Solskjaer this season, making just three appearances in all competitions since the June restart.

The Times claim Lingard hopes he can play a prominent role in the remainder of United's Europa League campaign in order to secure an exit in the window.

Lingard has only one year left on his contract with the Reds though United have the option to extend it for a further season.
