Jadon Sancho pays ultimate compliment to Manchester United's Luke Shaw with new nickname

Jadon Sancho has become the latest person to bestow the nickname 'Shawberto Carlos' on his teammate-to-be Luke Shaw, while also opening up on how playing football in council estates as a child shaped his mentality as a footballer.

Sancho agreed to join Manchester United in a £73 million deal last week from Borussia Dortmund and celebrated with an excellent performance in his first start for England at Euro 2020 in the 4-0 quarter-final win over Ukraine.

After progressing to the semi-finals for the second consecutive major international tournament, England hosted an exclusive sit down interview with the 21-year-old winger.

Speaking on England's official YouTube channel, the former City player revealed what it was like playing with older footballers and how it influenced his style of football from a young age.

"When I was on the estate, I would always see the older lot play football and as I got older they started to integrate me with them. Street football is about the megs and all that, so you want to violate a couple man," Sancho said.

"I’ve never changed. In the cages it was all about nutmegging and badding people up and taking them on. When I’m in a one-v-one situation I always try to do what I used to do in the cages and try perfect it."

Sancho was asked who was the toughest possible full-back to come up against and ended up complimenting his new United teammate Shaw in the process.

"Hardest full-back to come up against of all-time would be Roberto Carlos. We’ve got Shawberto Carlos here."

Shaw was praised by the Brazil legend on Instagram after his two assists in the win over Ukraine and it seems as though that has now earned him a new nickname amongst his England colleagues.
