Jadon Sancho has said yes to a prospective transfer to Napoli, but there is a major hurdle that would need to be overcome for a move to be facilitated.
The Manchester United winger has returned to Old Trafford this summer following a mixed loan spell at Chelsea, where he scored five goals in 41 games in all competitions.
The Blues had a £25million obligation to buy Sancho at the end of his loan spell, but Enzo Maresca’s side instead chose to pay a penalty fare of £5m to void the agreement and send the forward back to the north-west.
It was previously reported that Sancho and Chelsea could not agree on personal terms to make his move to west London permanent, and as such, the Blues have turned their attention to Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens as their primary target on the left flank.
Chelsea have had two bids rejected by Dortmund - both lodged before the Club World Cup - but reports have claimed that the club are confident of getting a deal agreed.
As for Sancho, his future is now up in the air, with the England international not fancied by United boss Ruben Amorim.
Sancho was shipped out last summer after a public fallout with Amorim’s predecessor Erik ten Hag, with Sancho clapping back at his manager’s criticism of his efforts in training on social media.
Now, Sancho has been linked with a move to Serie A, where champions Napoli are reported to have an interest in him.
According to Sky Italia, Sancho has given the green light to a potential transfer to Antonio Conte’s side, where he could reunited with former United team-mate Scott McTominay.
However, the same report from Italy reveals that Napoli are not keen to meet United’s asking price of €25m.
Sancho has one year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford.
