Jadon Sancho has issued an apology after breaching coronavirus restrictions by attending a house party with Tammy Abraham and Ben Chilwell, and says he takes “full responsibility” for his actions.

The trio’s arrival to St George's Park has been delayed by the Football Association “as a precaution” as reports about the social gathering are investigated, and they are now likely to miss out on England’s friendly against Wales on Thursday.

The Borussia Dortmund winger posted on his Instagram story: "I would like to apologise for breaking the government guidelines and although I was unaware upon arriving of the numbers attending, I take full responsibility for my actions.

"I will make sure moving forward that I learn from this."

The event, a surprise birthday party for Chelsea striker Abraham, was attended by around 20 people.

A statement from the FA read: “England men’s senior squad has assembled at St. George’s Park ahead of the forthcoming fixtures against Wales, Belgium and Denmark.

“However, as a precaution to understand if there is any risk to the wider group, the arrival of Tammy Abraham, Ben Chilwell and Jadon Sancho will be delayed. This is to allow time to gather further information of a social gathering that all three players reportedly attended over the weekend.”
