Jadon Sancho hints at position change at Man Utd ahead of joining club for pre-season

Jadon Sancho has hinted that he could play in multiple positions for Manchester United after his starring display against England.

The winger was handed his first start of Euro 2020 following his move to Old Trafford earlier in the week as Gareth Southgate's men reached the semi-final stageto face Denmark with a convincing 4-0 win over Ukraine.

Sancho started on the right but was almost given a free role as drifted into central areas and swapping flanks with Raheem Sterling on the left-wing.

When he popped up on the left, he linked up effectively with Luke Shaw behind him who provided two assists for the Three Lions.

And Sancho says he has a great understanding with all his new United teammates and that he was happy to interchange positions throughout the game, something that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be looking to exploit next season.

He told talkSPORT : "Yeah, Luke (Shaw )is a great lad. I always have a good relationship with him, Marcus [Rashford] and Harry [Maguire] so it’s going to be fun (at United).

"We knew that me and Raheem (Sterling), on the wings, had to go at them and create space for Harry Kane. I thought we did so and that’s how we got the goals tonight so I’m very happy for the team and especially for Harry Kane.

“Me and Raz (Sterling), we always switch. We can play right, left, or in the middle. It’s not a problem for both of us. We just keep switching. Let’s say if it’s a counter attack, I’m on the left, he’s on the right, we just stay in those positions and whenever we want to switch, we’ll switch.”

Shaw was delighted that Sancho could showcase his talents against the Ukrainians and that he deserves enormous credit for making the most of his rare start as he was used sparingly up until Friday night.

He said: "Brilliant. I said to him after the game ‘that’s a big performance’".

"He hasn’t had too much game time, he’s obviously been, not disappointed but wanting to play like everyone else.

“He’s kept his head down, he’s kept working hard and I feel like tonight he took his chance.

“He showed people why we’re buying him and of course, even though I was on the pitch, I was really impressed with his performance.

“I’m obviously looking forward to him becoming a Manchester United player and I will keep getting on to him to keep those high standards up.

“Today I was really happy and proud of his performance.”
