Borussia Dortmund's England international Jadon Sancho has praised Manchester United forward as an inspiration, sending a birthday message to his compatriot.
Rashford turned 22 this week and celebrated with a starring performance in the 2-1 Carabao Cup victory over Chelsea by scoring two goals, including a remarkable long-range free-kick.
That continues a fine vein of form for the forward since October's international break, scoring four goals and contributing an assist in his last four starts.
Rashford's fine form has not gone unnoticed and nor has his meteoric rise during the past few seasons, which has led Sancho to hail Rashford as an inspiration to young players.
"Happy birthday big bro, an inspiration to us young ballers," he said on Instagram, tagging Rashford in his post and sharing a picture of the duo in training with England.
19-year-old Sancho has caught the eye with Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga since leaving Manchester City and is a United transfer target, although the German side would command a hefty price tag for his services.
Sancho's stock has risen further this season with a fine start to the new league campaign, scoring three times and contributing five assists in his eight appearances.
