Jadon Sancho given strong transfer message by Dortmund team-mate amid Chelsea and Man Utd links

Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus has urged his team-mate Jadon Sancho to stay in Germany for at least another year.

Sancho is in demand ahead of the summer transfer window, with Chelsea and Manchester United among the clubs linked with a move to sign the England international.

He has been in fine form for Dortmund this season, scoring 17 goals and providing 19 assists in 35 games in all competitions, which has led to increased attention from elsewhere in Europe.

Premier League leaders Liverpool have also been linked with the 20-year-old, but Manchester United are considered the favourites to sign him ahead of Chelsea.

However, Reus has suggested that there is no rush for Sancho to make a decision, and that in his opinion, he should remain in Germany for another couple of seasons to further his development.

"Jadon is an outstanding player and will definitely remain in demand by many clubs. That is a fact," Reus said in an interview with Sport Bild.

"He’s now playing at an even higher level than last year and would be extremely valuable in achieving our goals.

"I would advise him to stay at BVB for another year, maybe two. From my point of view, there is no better place for him at the moment.

"Afterwards, he can take the really big step as an even more complete player, having developed further in peace here as a regular starter.

‘He would have to find his place at a new club, which isn’t always easy for a 20-year-old. ‘Just how interesting do you think Jadon will be for the biggest clubs if he spends one, two or three years more here to develop further?’
