Jadon Sancho for Callum Hudson-Odoi and three swap deals Frank Lampard and Chelsea must sanction

Premier League clubs are going to have to get very creative in the upcoming transfer window.

The coronavirus pandemic means that a number of sides will have limited funds to work with, thus meaning many will be reliant on free transfers and loan moves.

Another way of ensuring that teams don't go crazy with the chequebook is by offering players as either a straight swap deal or in order to drive the price right down.

Straight swaps are incredibly rare in the game but we may well see a few more of these deals over the coming months as clubs will be unwilling to commit sizeable fees as they would have done in previous years.

Oliver Harbord on Chelsea transfer plans, lockdown latest and more

With that in mind, we at football.london have decided to take a look at some deals that Chelsea could potentially look at as Frank Lampard aims to add his squad.

Here we take a look at four deals that would see the Blues strengthen their squad ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

Ross Barkley for Declan Rice

Talk of Chelsea moving for Rice just doesn't seem to go away following his spell at the club as a youngster.

The 21-year-old has excelled at West Ham and you would expect him to move on to one of the Premier League's top six at some point in the future.

If Lampard is keen on bringing the player across to west London then he may want to think about offering Barkley in a deal.

The England international was outstanding in his previous two games against Liverpool and Everton but he has a tough task ahead of him if he is to remain in the side on a permanent basis.

With Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek already at the club, as well as talk of Philippe Coutinho swapping the Nou Camp for Stamford Bridge, the 26-year-old may unfortunately be the one to make way.

West Ham boss David Moyes would no doubt be interested after managing the player at Everton in the past.

Callum Hudson-Odoi for Jadon Sancho

Chelsea fans would love Sancho to seal a move to SW6 this summer following his stunning performances for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

Manchester United are also very keen on signing the England international and competition will certainly be fierce for his signature.

As swap deals may prove to be the way forward this summer due to the current situation across the globe, offering Hudson-Odoi as part of the deal could help it come to fruition.

While Lampard would obviously like to have both in his squad for next season, the only way he may be able to get Sancho to the club is by offering a player in return, whether that be permanently or on loan, to knock the price down.

Dortmund are well known to like young talent and they would be getting a like-for-like replacement in Hudson-Odoi.

Michy Batshuayi for Timo Werner

Chelsea need to bring in a new striker this summer if they want to challenge at the top end of the Premier League.

RB Leipzig ace Werner has been linked with a move to the club and he would be an excellent addition to compete alongside the likes of Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud.

Michy Batshuayi has just not hit the heights at the club and the Blues could potentially think about offering him in any deal for Werner.

Obviously Chelsea would have to send money Leipzig's way as well but the fact the Belgian had a very good loan spell at Borussia Dortmund previously could be very appealing to them.

Ethan Ampadu for Ben Chilwell

Another player consistently linked with a move to Chelsea is Chilwell.

The Leicester City left-back has made real strides over the past few years and he has been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium plenty of times in the past.

As the Blues have used Cesar Azpilicueta, Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri at left-back to varying degrees of success, it's an area they need to get right as they look to build a team for the long-term future.

Given it's highly unlikely Alonso or Emerson would move in the opposite direction, offering Ampadu as part of any deal could interest Brendan Rodgers.

The ex-Celtic boss is building a youthful side and the versatile player would certainly fit right in there due to his qualities.

Offering the player either on a permanent basis or on loan could be enough to set the wheels in motion.
