Jadon Sancho dedicates first England goals to late Nan in touching tribute

Jadon Sancho dedicated his first two international goals to his late Nan in a touching tribute.

The Borussia Dortmund winger started for the first time in the Euro 2020 qualifiers on Tuesday night and bagged his first goals on the international stage.

On only his eighth Three Lions appearance, the 19-year-old scored twice from close range thanks to the awareness of Raheem Sterling towards the end of the first half at Southampton's St. Mary's Stadium.

Sancho has impressed this season with his appearances for Dortmund in the Bundesliga, scoring twice and assisting three times in the opening three games of the season.

The England forward told ITV: "I'm just delighted to score my first goal for England.

"It means a lot to me personally, especially for my family.

"My goal was dedicated to my nan because she was a big fan of me but sadly she passed away."

Sancho also praised his team-mates for the way they responded to going a goal behind.

He added: "I think it was kind of like a bad mistake from us. How we responded was very good."

Kosovo opened the scoring after 35 seconds after Michael Keane's loose pass was punished by Valon Berisha.

The Everton defender made up for it though on the eighth minute after his header from a corner found Sterling a few yards out to level proceedings.

Harry Kane put England ahead 10 minutes later after Sterling found the captain in space.

An own goal from Mergim Vojvoda meant England extended their lead with seven minutes to go in the first half, before Sterling assisted Sancho twice in two minutes for a 5-1 lead at half time.

Berisha scored his second four minutes into the second half after Vedat Muriqi’s cross.

Muriqi then got in on the scoring act, dispatching a penalty after Harry Maguire fouled him.
