Jadon Sancho has hinted at a long-term stay at Borussia Dortmund after talking up the club's young prospects.
The England attacker has been involved in one of the transfer sagas of the summer with both Manchester United and Chelsea heavily linked with him.
Whilst the Blues dropped out of the race to focus their attentions on Kai Havertz, United continued to pursue the 20-year-old.
Yet they let a Dortmund-imposed deadline to agree a deal pass them by earlier this week, with Sancho instead being named in his club's training camp for a trip to Switzerland ahead of the new season.
Officials at the Bundesliga club now say that Sancho will stay until at least next summer following the deadline's passing.
It has handed clubs like Chelsea a boost should they still be keeping tabs on Sancho or retain any interest in him.
Sancho played for 45 minutes in Dortmund's 6-0 friendly win over Altach and was interviewed after the game.
He talked up the club's young players and said he was looking forward to playing the role of dressing room leader with them.
"I love playing with this lot," Sancho declared. "It is a special bunch.
"We've got some special young players coming up. I am really happy to share the pitch with them and guide them.
"I was once in their shoes, playing with the seniors. I am happy for them.
"I joined when I was 17. Some of the lads are the same age.
"I've been there and done that. I can guide them in what’s good and what isn’t. I can hopefully motivate them as well."
