Jadon Sancho breaks silence on form since Manchester United transfer saga

Jadon Sancho admitted he has endured a tough season for Borussia Dortmund since his links with Manchester United throughout the summer, but believes he's now back to his best.

The England winger has now netted in his past three successive appearances for Dortmund, after scoring just four goals in 24 appearances for club and country before December 22.

United were desperate to sign Sancho in the summer transfer window, but refused to meet the German club's £108million valuation of the player.

And although it was understood that Sancho was keen on the move, he has now rediscovered form following a change of management at Dortmund.

"Obviously this season has been very difficult for me personally," Sancho told bundesliga.com after scoring in Dortmund's 3-1 league win at RB Leipzig on Saturday.

"So I knew when I went away, I just focused on my game and came back raring to go.

"I'm working hard every day in training and on the pitch so I'm just happy to get my goals and assists."

Interim Dortmund boss Edin Terzic also addressed Sancho's situation and believes that the 20-year-old has shown an excellent attitude to bounce back following a lean spell.

"We spoke a lot but Jadon was always doing his best in the last weeks and months, but sometimes it's like that," Terzic said.

"Players are not always performing on this level. He knew that. He stayed hungry and we tried to support him as a team.

"We tried to support him individually. It worked out well in the last three games. He scored three goals, and now three assists also.

"He's in a good way to get into his best form."

United have not completely dropped their interest in Sancho and, although they are very unlikely to strike a deal in January, could rekindle the saga in the summer 2021 window. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is understood to be a huge admirer of the player.
