'Jadon Sancho as rent' - Manchester United fans react as Borussia Dortmund train at The Cliff

Manchester United fans have joked that the club are getting on Borussia Dortmund's good side by allowing the Bundesliga side to use The Cliff training ground ahead of their Champions League tie with Man City.

Ahead of the first leg of their quarter-final tie with City at the Etihad, Dortmund shared pictures of their players going through a training session at United's old training ground.

With United keen on both Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland at Dortmund, fans joked about how it may be part of a charm offensive to lure the duo to Old Trafford in the near future.

Whilst Sancho was not present due to injury, Haaland is set to play a big part in the eagerly-anticipated contest.

United's first-team have trained at Carrington since 2000, yet the club still use The Cliff for some academy matches, with the women's team also training there.

Reds boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer previously took the first-team to train at The Cliff in 2019 ahead of a Manchester derby in order to try and inspire his players thanks to the history of the old training ground.

It is not the first time that Dortmund have used another team's facilities when preparing for a European knockout tie in England.

In 2016, the Bundesliga side caused a stir when they were pictured training at non-league Marine before facing Liverpool in a Europa League quarter-final clash.

With their knockout tie against City taking place this evening, it seems unlikely that Dortmund would have undergone an intensive training session at The Cliff.

Instead, players were likely given a light training session in order to keep loose ahead of the game.
