Jadeveon Clowney will be ‘ready to go whenever the time comes’

Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is still without an NFL team but recently stated his intention to sign with a club before the start of the 2020 season barring postponement or cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Clowney believes his long rehabilitation from his sports hernia surgery has created skepticism among teams, although it has also repeatedly been reported that his asking price is too high for most teams’ preferences.

“It might have (slowed the process) a little more than expected,” Clowney told Fox 26 Houston in May. “I don’t know if people think I’m hurting because of what I went through, because of the core (injury), or previous years… I don’t know. I just want to let people know I’m ready. I’m gonna be ready to go whenever the time comes and whoever I sign with is gonna get the best version of me. I’m working, I’m staying ahead of schedule and I’m going to be ready to go when training camp starts.”

Clowney previously stated that he is open to a reunion with the Seattle Seahawks, but there will be many implications including cap space and other teams attempting to court him. With the pandemic still active and Clowney’s still undecided, it is up in the air where he will call home in 2020.
