Jadeveon Clowney expected to play Sunday against Rams

The Seattle Seahawks welcomed back defensive end Jadeveon Clowney on Monday night against the Vikings, after he missed the previous game against the Philadelphia Eagles with a core muscle injury.

Clowney recorded three solo tackles, one for a loss, and one quarterback hit on Monday, and his return was critical for a team that needs his presence in both the run game and the passing game.

Despite playing 78 percent of Seattle’s defensive snaps, Clowney appears to have recovered well and is in line to play again on Sunday night against the Rams in Los Angeles.

“He’s practicing today, and that’s a really good sign,” coach Pete Carroll said on Wednesday. “It’s a really good sign.”

Clowney’s addition has been instrumental in Seattle’s recent success on the defensive side of the ball, and they’ll need him to continue to be a disruptive force if they want to win out and secure a top seed, and a first round bye, in the crowded NFC.
