Jade Thirlwall tipped for Strictly Come Dancing as bookies slash odds on Little Mix star competing

Jade Thirlwall is being hotly tipped to take part in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The South Shields singer shot to fame on a TV talent show, having won The X Factor with Little Mix in 2011, and now she has been linked with a spin in the BBC ballroom, with bookies slashing odds on her to compete this year.

The Strictly Come Dancing lineup rumours so far have thrown up all sorts of names from Michelle Keegan to another X Factor star, Stacey Solomon and even Kylie Minogue, but now bookmakers Coral have Jade at 2-1 to go for the Glitterball in 2020.

Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead said: "There's lots of rumours flying around now about who will line up on the next series of Strictly and we think Jade would be a huge hit.

"We've slashed the odds on it happening to just 2-1."

"Jade is a woman of many talents so we’re confident she’ll do amazingly if she does sign up!

If she does go on Strictly this year, the 27-year-old, will follow in the footsteps of fellow South Tynesider Chris Ramsey who danced all the way to the semi-finals last year.

'Contingency plans' in place so Strictly will happen this year

Last month, Strictly judge Craig Revel-Horwood said there were measures in place for Strictly to go ahead this year in spite of the coronavirus pandemic, saying: "There’s a contingency plan in place with the producers to bring it to the nation and of course it is such a wonderful show, such a happy show, everyone knows it’s the lead-up to Christmas.

“People want to feel good about themselves and what better way of doing that than dancing, so yeah, we are keeping our fingers crossed.”
