Jade Thirlwall's South Shields bar Arbeia loosens dress code for England game but one rule remains

There's some good news for football fans if they're hoping to head to Jade Thirlwall's bar in South Shields for some post-match drinks on Friday as the dress code is loosened for the England game.

It's the big one at Wembley on June 18 when Gareth Southgate's men take on old rivals Scotland in both sides' second game of Euro 2020, with fans all over the UK ready to cheer on their team from the comfort of the sofa, with their mates in the pub or in many one of the many fan zones in both countries.

While, unlike other places in Shields, Little Mix star Jade 's Ocean Road bar Arbeia won't be showing England v Scotland, it will be open for hours after the final whistle blows to welcome fans wanting to celebrate or drown their sorrows.

Iconic South Shields building to open as an 'aparthotel'

As well as hosting a string of busker nights and live music performances, once of which saw landlady Jade belt out Proud Mary last year, Arbeia has established itself as THE place to go for a cocktail in South Tyneside.

And the stylish bar will be breaking with its usual dress code for Friday night's match.

Issuing a teaser of some of the drinks offers available this weekend, including 2 cocktails for £9.95, Gin Trees and Cocktail Trees, a post on Arbeia's Facebook page issued a guidance on what dress will be permitted and, while good news for footy fans hoping to head their after the game, one strict rule remains.

The post read: "Please note, we do have a weekend dress code.

"Football shirts will be allowed entry this evening following the match but sport/gym shorts will not be permitted. See you tonight"

Arbeia was originally called Red Door but Jade changed the name to Arbeia early last year in honour of the nearby Roman fort.

She is also planning to open nightclub Industry in what used to be Glitterball but coronavirus threw a spanner in the works weeks before its launch night in March 2020.
