Jade Thirlwall discusses transphobia in the UK as she graces cover of Gay Times

Jade Thirlwall discussed the 'alarming' amount of transphobia in the UK and the world as she graced the cover of Gay Times.

The Little Mix singer has always been a huge ally to the LGBTQ+ community, attending marches, pride events and using her platform to call out injustice and raise awareness.

In an interview with Gay Times, the 28-year-old opened up about the amount of transphobic abuse she received when she recommended Shon Faye's book, The Transgender Issue.

"I feel like this year for some reason, in particular, I don’t know why, maybe it’s because we have been indoors more you’re confronted with it more, but transphobia in the UK at the minute and worldwide is quite scary and quite alarming," she explained.

She went on to explain the 'tiny experience' she had of receiving abuse from transphobic people when disgusting trolls took to Twitter to send hateful messages.

"I was like, f**k. I obviously know they’re there, and they exist, but that was just a tiny, tiny experience of what that’s like for trans people,” Jade added.

"I was like, f**king hell that’s relentless, so horrific, that you can’t even suggest something without an army of these TERFs and transphobes coming out of the woodwork and having something to say about it."

The Transgender Issue, written by Shon, discusses 'transgender liberation in the United Kingdom' as explained in the description of the important book.

Faye looks at how issues of social class, employment and housing insecurity, police violence and prisons, and sex work affect transgender people.

Jade shared a photo of the cover of the Honours Issue of the magazine she features in.

"It’s an honour to be part of the Honours Issue," she wrote on Instagram.

"Allyship is fundamental, essential and eternal. Forever standing with and fighting for the LGBTQ+ community."

The singer looked sensational in a baby pink poofy dress that was accessorised with gloves covered in a giant bow.

Her hair was slicked into a high ponytail, with two perfect strands cascading her face.

Fans were in awe of the pop icon as they took to the comment section to post a string of fire emojis and heart emojis.

Many called her an 'icon' while others told her how proud they are of her.
