Jade Goody’s widower Jack Tweed speaks of his guilt over trying to find love again

Jack Tweed speaks of his guilt over trying to find love again 10 years after Jade Goody’s death.

He was just 21 when his late wife died of cervical cancer and has struggled to form relationships ever since.

The 31-year-old told Good Morning Britain that he had only had one "toxic" relationship in that time, which ended because he was "trying to replace Jade".

While relationships are not on his radar, Jack did admit to enjoying “female company”.

He told Susanna Reid: “I have dated yes, I’ve dated one relationship. I think I was looking for a replacement to Jade and I rushed into it and after a couple of months I realised I didn’t feel the same way.

We were just rowing, it was a toxic relationship, it didn’t work out so it ended in a bad way. That’s the only one to be honest. I’ve had female company but nothing [long standing].

“There’s a lot of guilt involved as well, you do feel guilty when you start talking to someone else. It does stay in your head. I think that’s what  a lot of the arguments were because I felt guilty, I felt bad being with someone else.”

Jack appeared on the ITV breakfast show with Debbie McGee, wife of late magician Paul Daniels, to discuss a recent survey where one million Brits say that people should never date again after losing their loved one.

Jack: “I just can’t see how they can say that. I lost Jade when I was 21, I know everyone’s different but am I meant to be single and lonely for the rest of my life?

“I don’t think I've got to that stage yet where I have thought I can love someone else like I loved Jade again. I don’t think I’ll ever get to that stage. I don’t think it’s right that you should just be lonely - you need company and companionship.”

Speaking of whether he discussed the idea of moving on with Jade once she passed, Jack said it was her who brought the subject up.

“I didn’t personally, it’s not something you want to talk about to your partner,” he said. “Jade forced me to talk about it. She said straight away I want you to move on, don’t want you to be lonely I want you to be happy.

“I told her to be quiet. I didn’t think it was the right thing to talk about.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
