Jadavpur University student held in Kolkata for Maoist link

KOLKATA: The Special Task Force (STF) of the Kolkata Police arrested a PhD student of Jadavpur University for being allegedly involved in Maoist activities.

Cops recovered Maoist literature, including video clips, from the accused, Joyeeta Das, who hails from Nadia, in the Maidan area. On the basis of this recovery, cops also nabbed two persons in Murshidabad.

Earlier in 2013, Das was also held from the Charu Market area for being a member of the Matangini Mahila Samiti. Das was produced in court on Wednesday and sent to police remand.
