KOLKATA: Jadavpur University has ranked fifth in the arts and humanities stream — among the best Indian institutions (within a range of top 500 institutions worldwide) — in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022. Jadavpur University and IIT Delhi are ranked within the range of 401-450 worldwide along with Jawaharlal Nehru University (188), Delhi University (227), IIT Mumbai (333). JU is also the only state university in India that has been ranked in arts and humanities stream.
Vice Chancellor Suranjan Das said, “This success and international recognition should be seen as a result of the sustained efforts of our brilliant members of faculty, research scholars, teaching staff and students. This can’t be possible without the support of the state government.”
Pro-vice chancellor Samantak Das said that it is a proud moment for everyone associated with the university. “It is a pride for Bengal that despite the pandemic, Jadavpur University has got such a good ranking. This would not have been possible without the joint effort of teachers, students, researchers, officers and non-teaching staff,” added Das.
The universities are ranked based on international research network, H-index citation, citations per paper, academic and employer reputation.
