Jada Pinkett-Smith breaks silence after husband Will Smith's Oscars slap

Jade Pinkett-Smith has spoken out after the Oscars incident which saw her husband Will slap comedian Chris Rock.

During the 94th Academy Awards ceremony, host Mr Rock took things a little too far for Will Smith's liking. During a stand-up set, the Grown Ups star made a joke about Will's wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith's, alopecia - a condition that causes your hair to fall out.

On stage, Chris said: "Jada, can't wait for GI Jane 2." After cameras panned to Will Smith laughing, a few seconds later the star climbed onto the stage and slaps Chris across the face before shouting "Keep my wife's name out your f****** mouth" from his seat.

Since then, a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said the 57-year-old host would not be pressing charges against the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor. The statement said: "LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program. The incident involved one individual slapping another. The individual involved has declined to file a police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report.”

Will Smith has also issued an apology to both the Oscars and following the evening, directly to Mr Rock himself. For the first time since the incident, his wife Jada has posted to social media.

Taking to Instagram, the actress shared a light peach image with text adorned across it. The text read 'this is the season for healing and I'm here for it.'

The Matrix actress limits who is able to comment on her posts so fans have not been able to react. As of now, only one comment with several hearts is under the image.

Since the Oscars, Jada joined her husband along with her three children Willow, Trey and Jadan Smith as they celebrated Will's first Academy Award win at the Vanity Fair after-party. Will won the award for best actor in a leading role for his part in King Richard.
